A Joyful Studio Mini Session with Mom & Her One-Year-Old

There’s something so special about photographing that one-year mark. The wobbly steps, the gummy grins, the way they go from cuddly baby to curious little explorer in what feels like five minutes flat. It’s magic—and this mama and her sweet boy brought all of it to their mini session.

We met in the studio during one of my mini session days, where I had set up a playful hanging floral installation (read: the perfect toddler temptation). He was very into it—swinging the flowers, giggling, reaching with both hands like he just had to touch all the pretty things.

Mom danced with him under the flowers, scooped him up for snuggles, and let him lead the way. And of course, there were some wobbly, brave little steps—his kind of “ta-da” moment—followed by big cheers and even bigger smiles.

One of my favourite parts? Watching them pause and peer out the window together every time a bus went by. It was the most ordinary, everyday kind of moment—and yet, so full of wonder. That’s the magic of this season, isn’t it? Seeing the world through their eyes, one bus at a time.

These sessions may be short, but they hold so much heart. Whether it’s the giggles, the cuddles, or just being in the moment with your little one—there’s always something worth remembering.

Thinking About a Motherhood Session?

They’re relaxed, playful, and the perfect way to document this fleeting season—without needing a big production. Because these days? They’re going faster than you think. And you deserve to have more than just phone snapshots to remember them by.
