Summer Beach Mini Sessions in Vancouver: What to Expect


Thinking about booking a beach mini session this summer? You’re in the right place—and the right city. Vancouver is basically showing off in July and August, with soft light, salty air, and long golden evenings that make the most magical backdrop for your family story.

If you’ve never done a mini session before (or just want to know what’s different about these), here’s exactly what to expect—and how to make the most of it.


What is a beach mini session, anyway?

Mini sessions are short and sweet photo sessions—perfect if you're looking for a few updated images, a taste of my photography style, or a way to squeeze a session in without the full commitment of a longer shoot.


For summer minis, we head to the beach for 20 minutes of playful, relaxed moments in the sand, breeze, and glow. The light? Gorgeous. The vibe? Effortless. The memories? Pure gold.


How long does it take?

Each session is 20 minutes long—and yes, so much goodness can happen in that time!

We’ll keep things relaxed and focused on connection. I’ll gently guide you, but mostly we let the kids (or the tide!) lead.


Where do these take place?

This year, beach minis are happening at Hadden Park (Kits Dog Beach!)

What should we wear?

Think breezy, comfy, and sun-warmed. Soft colours like blush, beige, olive, dusty blue, and denim photograph beautifully against the beachy tones. You don’t need to match—just wear what makes you feel good (and maybe leave the neon at home 😉).

🐾 Can we bring our dog?

Absolutely! Dogs are totally welcome - and are one of the reasons why I've chosen the Kits Dog Beach location for this year! Bring a leash, a few treats, and maybe a fun toy for them.


Is this session okay for little ones?

Yes! In fact, it’s ideal. The short time frame means kids won’t get overtired, and the setting naturally invites play. Babies in carriers, toddlers chasing waves, preschoolers throwing rocks—bring it all. These sessions are all about the joy.
